Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap
Feb 19 2013

A Great Movie!

I really enjoyed this movie, especially after watching Waiting for Superman and reading articles for my Teach for America pre-work. SO much of what I am learning in pre-work came up in this movie – statistics, ideals about teaching, etc. The movie is about two women who were not satisfied with the education their children were getting (one is actually a teacher). Instead of sitting back and doing nothing, they decided to be proactive and change the school that their children attended. There are so many schools in America that need to hit the reset button. We need change because what is going on in our schools is not working. I am not going to get preachy about the problems in schools. I just really enjoyed watching this movie and seeing change happen even when it seems futile.

It is my hope that I will be able to change my students lives one classroom at a time. I hope and pray that I don’t loose this passion and zeal for teaching over time. In the words of Ghandi – I want to be the change that I want to see in the world!
