Ni Hao for those who don’t know is hello in Chinese. I want to tell you a bit about myself. I am currently teaching in China at an international school. I moved here with my husband after I graduated in May 2011 with my degree in Secondary English Education. I teach middle-school and high-school science, world geography, English and ESL. I feel like I have grown so much as a person and as a teacher during my time in China (I have another blog about life in China called Life on the Fourth Floor). I am originally from Georgia, so moving to the Delta is a bit like getting back to my roots (though I am still shocked by a lot of the reading in pre-work – more on that later).
Before I accepted my job here in China I applied for TFA, but I did not make it through. This year I did and I am so excited. I am a non-traditional CM who has just a bit more experience. I am still worried about hiring, induction and institute. Plus I am not just moving across the country – I am moving across the world. I have already started looking around my apartment trying to decide what should stay in China and what should come back to the U.S. Thankfully some of my husbands family is coming over to help us transport stuff back.
I have been reading information on Teach for Us and I know that I want to tell about my experiences. I know that the blogs already on Teach for Us have helped me and I hope that mine will go on to help others as well.
